WHAT WE DO

Before founding KAAN Capital, Jose Fierro worked 21 years in GBM, one of Mexico’s leading financial institutions. He spent 11 years as Portfolio Manager of GBM’s equity mutual funds and mandates. During his tenure GBMs funds were recognized among the best in the industry outperforming the Mexican Bolsa by a wide margin, he also managed equities for international funds, local  sovereign institutions, international sovereign wealth funds and pension plans.

Jose joined GBM in 1998; he began his career in Research where he was the senior analyst for the mining sector, developing fundamental models for those companies. In 2000, he was appointed Head Economist and Strategist. In 2004, he was named Head of Institutional Investments at GBM, where he was responsible for the investments of some of the largest pension funds among Mexican companies.

Alberto is co-founder of KAAN Capital. Prior to starting KAAN Capital, he spent 22 years in GBM, Mexico´s leading Broker and most recognized “Equities Boutique”. From 2008 to 2019 he headed the Institutional and International Sales team, broadening GBM’s client portfolio as well as their geographical footprint. During the previous 10 years, Alberto held different roles in GBM´s Research department. He led the growth of the equity research team from 6 to over 25 analysts and had an important role in the implementation of GBM’s value investing approach throughout the firm. Prior to joining GBM, he spent 6 years in Valores Bursatiles de Mexico as an Equity Analyst. Alberto’s 28+ years in the Mexican Equity Market has granted him profound knowledge and expertise on Mexican companies and their management teams, as well as an extended network of local and international asset managers.
